Summer Movies – to See in 3D or Not to See in 3D
No matter how we feel as parents, though, most of the 3D movies are kids’ and family movies, so we also have to take into consideration the kids’ preferences. In talking to kids and families, I have found that the older kids are really into 3D. But, little kids generally don’t keep the glasses on, so that becomes a problem for parents. We saw Kung Fu Panda 2 in 3D yesterday (in theaters May 26th), and it was the first time my 3-year-old has kept the glasses on for the whole movie. Still, I could tell she was really starting to get bugged by them toward the end.

Conclusion
3D on Blu-ray is the only way to get full-resolution images for each eye. Cable and satellite 3D content is handicapped by their limited bandwidth, and will therefore have softer images, likely with artifacts like jaggies (depending on many factors, not least the TV).
It is true that we are still in the early days of the 3D TV evolution, but the cable/satellite hurdles are exceedingly expensive to remedy, and are unlikely to happen with such a small installed base of 3D TVs.

Now that the dust has settled on the Nintendo 3DS launch, it’s become apparent to many gamers that a 3D display isn’t adding a great deal to the gameplay experience. At least, not yet. 3D Dramatically Increases Memory Retention Rates in Advertising and in Learning Says Leading 3D Producer
The use of 3D in advertising yields eye-popping returns in memory retention with audiences exhibiting 92% total recall of an ad, with 68% of that number showing a higher likelihood of following through with a purchase of the product advertised – a significant increase over the same commercial in 2D. Quoting studies from multiple independent sources – including ESPN, Xpand and Texas Instruments, the data shows an average increase in viewer retention of 15%.

CPG outlines its 2D-3D vision
The Cameron Pace Group (CPG) wants to demonstrate its technology in Europe covering a football match to prove its vision of simultaneous 2D and 3D production, writes Adrian Pennington. Adult Industry hopes to get more from 3D than HD
The adult entertainment industry was one of the first to embrace 3D but there is still some hesitation that the technology will be a flop.
Speaking at the 3DTV World Forum, and also sponsoring the two-day event, Dorcel said about 3D: “The adult industry did not succeed in monetising HD, so we have a huge challenge with 3D.”

Ubisoft moving ahead with 3D “Assassin’s Creed,” “Splinter Cell” films
Ubisoft Motion Pictures, part of the Ubisoft video game publishing division, revealed plans to produce 3D films of their popular games “Assassin’s Creed,” “Splinter Cell” and “Ghost Recon” to Variety.
“Our strategy is not to diversify but to bolster the appeal of our franchises — that’s why we want to make sure our films will reflect the brands accurately and consolidate our fan base while expanding beyond the games’ primary target audience,” said Jean de Rivieres, senior VP of international marketing and distribution.
