Ever wish you could lose the specs and watch a 3D TV without those annoying glasses?

Analysts at Futuresource Consulting predict that by 2011 the UK will have more 3D TVs than the current front-runners, France and Germany, with one in three homes 3D Ready by 2014 - and a staggering 50 per cent by 2015.

That's an awful lot of 3D glasses - and at £100 a pop, it's a serious complaint about the 3D home experience. The solution, of course, is a 3D TV without glasses.

Consumer 3D cameras and camcorders: The first wave

Up until 2010, there were nearly no off-the-shelf cameras for consumers to create digital 3D photos and movies; it was pretty much a hobbyist or professional thing to do. A leading expert on innovation in education, Kathryn Macaulay, has outlined a list of ways in which the rapid development of 3D projector systems can be effectively harnessed to enhance classroom experience.

Apple Wins Patent for Glasses-Free 3-D TV

3-D TV--a fad or the future? Apple's vote is for "future". The company's just won a patent on a glasses-free 3-D TV system that's so advanced it sounds like sci-fi. And not necessarily in a good way.

Apple applied for this patent back in 2006, but unlike much of the patent speculation that surrounds one of the world's most successful (and most sued) companies, this one has just been granted by the USPTO.

LG readies £6m 3D TV marketing campaign

LG has announced plans to launch a £6 million marketing campaign in the UK focused on tackling the confusion among some consumers about 3D technology.

The campaign includes TV and press adverts, along with an "experiential tour" of shopping centres, dedicated Facebook activity, an online interactive Q&A and a new cinema advert, marking LG's first foray onto the silver screen.

Deluxe acquires Ascent Creative Services and Media Services businesses

Deluxe Entertainment Services Group announced today that it has signed an agreement with Ascent Media Corporation to acquire Ascent's Creative Services and Media Services businesses, including the well-known brands of Company 3, Beast, Method, Rushes, Encore Hollywood and Level 3 Post.
The acquisition will also enhance Deluxe’s services for clients that include life-cycle library management and digital asset management. Digital services include file based mastering, archiving, digital distribution, DVD and Blu-ray authoring.

3D broadcast possible for Prince William’s wedding

Rupert Murdoch's BSkyB wants to add an extra dimension to the April 29 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The satcaster is considering broadcasting the signal to British cinemas and 3D TV-enabled homes as a way of generating standout coverage of an event that could have the biggest global audience in TV history.
