World’s first 10.1” glasses-free 3D tablet for 2013

Chinese manufacturer Hampoo has been showing its 10.1” glasses free 3D tablet at last week’s Computex event in Taipei.

Typical-3d-tablet-475x2313D solutions company DDD has licensed its TriDef 3D Mobile software for the tablets, heading for mass production and an expected release in the third quarter of this year.

This means the HD tablets will be able to automatically convert 2D photos, videos and games into 3D. DDD will receive quarterly royalty revenues from Hampoo based on the volume of 3D tablets shipped.

TriDef 3D Mobile allows over 50 of the latest popular Android mobile games, including “Angry Birds”, “Blood and Glory” and “Cordy”, to be played in stereoscopic 3D ‘off the shelf’, even though the games were not specifically developed for 3D.
