Razer And Intel Unveil VR Gaming Camera With Motion Tracking And Depth Sensing

Razer and Intel are collaborating on a camera perfect for bringing virtual reality to the PC and for streaming games on Twitch. The two companies announced the partnership during the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco on Tuesday.

The camera will be based on Intel’s RealSense technology, which will help track the player’s movements and translate them in-game – a great way to incorporate a VR headset, like Razer’s OSVR, into gameplay.

The capabilities for streamers include “significantly enhanced game broadcasting,” according to a statement from Razer. This includes “automatic background removal” (think no more green screens), for “a more entertaining and immersive experience.” So instead of that white box that most streamers appear in, you will see a floating body positioned somewhere on the game screen.

Razer naturally is taking care of the design for the product, which is still in concept phase and subject to change. ... speculation puts in at an early 2016 release ...
