Nintendo, The Pokémon Company and Google have invested $30 million on Niantic Inc. to continue development on "Pokémon Go."
"Niantic has shown the great potential of mixing geo-location technology, dynamic storytelling and innovative game design, and we're excited to continue supporting the team on their journey," said Google executive Don Harrison, as per Business Wire.
Niantic's John Hanke told Venture Beat that the game is heavily inspired from the MMO environment. He strongly believes the company's latest project could be more popular than the MMO games that have come before it.
