Game Consoles Begin Serving As Entertainment Hubs

Video console use is still dominated by the devices' original intention: playing online and offline games. But non-gaming TV and video activities are catching up.

For example, according to Nielsen, PlayStation 3 users are now watching DVDs/Blu-Ray discs 27% of the time -- the second-most-popular use for that video console. This is almost equal to the 30% share of time PlayStation 3 users can be found playing offline games. PlayStation 3 users spend 19% playing online games.
