Meteor Entertainment Exec Mark Long Explains The 3D Virtual Reality Of Oculus Rift And HAWKEN

Meteor Entertainment, the new game publisher that’s bringing Adhesive Games’ free-to-play Mech shooter HAWKEN to gamers this December, is committed to supporting the new Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. The new device, which will launch its development kits this December in the same window of HAWKEN’s 12/12/12 release, promises to bring full stereoscopic 3D gameplay with a huge field of vision—110 degrees diagonally—and overcome the latency problems that have plagued previous VR gaming headsets, where movement in the game lags movement of the head.

Oculus recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to speed the distribution of early development kits to game developers around the world. The link to that campaign is here. The company was founded by veterans of RedOctane, developers of the acclaimed Guitar Hero series, Scaleform, a top user interface software in gaming, and Gaikai, the cloud gaming company.
