Technology takes Plymouth students out of this world

Parents are getting used to their kids coming home from school with stories about visits to the Pyramids or the Great Wall of China.

With virtual -reality technology, not even the sky is the limit for boys and girls in local schools.

A grant from the Plymouth Education Foundation started the Google Expeditions program last fall. And the virtual trips to national parks, inside the human body, and into outer space, quickly proved so popular that the district made sure there were enough of the virtual reality viewers to allow every child to get in on the educational fun.

The school committee oohed and aahed over the virtual reality offerings during an update on the district’s educational technology and instructional media programs earlier this week.
