CHARISMA.AI AND SHY TEA GAMES ANNOUNCE IMMERSIVE DREAM SIMULATION GAME, POWERED BY OPENAI’s GPT-3

11th February 2021, Munich and Oxford.
 
Independent games developers Shy Tea Games, Charisma.ai and AI expert Connor Leahy today announced that their forthcoming title will allow players to explore interpretations of dreams as 3D, interactive dream-worlds in Project Electric Sheep.
 
Project Electric Sheep combines the interactivity and visuals of a video game with the cutting-edge text generation and analysis of OpenAI’s GPT-3, to create thought-provoking and immersive worlds which players can explore.
 
Key features are:
 
-       Explore dream worlds, based around countless player-input topics
-       Meet infinite characters, each with unique, GPT-3 generated dialogues
-       Experience real-time world-building, in the form of GPT-3 created literature, advertisements, headlines, graffiti and more
-       Travel through diverse landscapes and 3D structures, generated using procedural generation in tandem with GPT-3’s semantic search functionality
 
The full title is scheduled for release in 2021.

There are wonderful opportunities for new forms of creativity to emerge, but also the potential for misinformation and misuse if viewed solely through the lens of technology.

Professor Radcliffe, one of the infinite in-game characters whose dialogue is generated by GPT-3, stated the following on the project: “I think the way it works is, first a person dreams of something, then a neural net is used to convert the dream into a script that a video game can interpret, then a game engine is used to create an environment that can be experienced in a virtual world.”
